I haven't tried upgrading the firmware on the MKII yet. Even when I specifically connect to the port I know the USB-Serial is on, the connection fails. I just tried updating the firmware on the STK500 from a fresh AVR Studio install on my XP machine. Once you have that then connect the MKII and go through the same motions as the stk500.

Install the jungo driver WITHOUT connecting anything. Reinstall Studio WITHOUT connecting ANYTHING Next go into add/remove programs and uninstall the AVR Jungo application. If it fails to load up properly, in the device tree select it, and uninstall it from the system. When windows finds it, go through the motions. Plug the MKII into a spare usb jack other than the one you are using now. Is the serial port on the XP machine part of the motherboard or is it a dongle/cable? I have mine on a serial port that is part of the motherboard and no issues.
